If there's any advice I would give as a leader, it's that you should select your circle carefully. Be around the LIGHT BRINGERS, the MAGIC MAKERS, the WORLD SHIFTERS, the GAME SHAKERS. They will CHALLENGE you, BREAK you OPEN, UPLIFT & EXPAND you. They don't let you play small with your life. These are your PEOPLE. These people are your TRIBE.
"5 years ago, I knew I had a lot more in me and I knew that I needed mentors to help me birth what has been deposited in me. I knew I had to be intentional about my associations. It took me a few months to find my first mentor in our industry. February 2016, I reached out to someone I had learned from and admired from afar. I asked him to mentor me. I was ready. We had the opportunity to work together for just about 1 year. That year changed my career.
I learned about having an insane work ethic. I learned about systems & duplication. I learned about stepping out of my comfort zone, chasing down my dreams, having the right posture, stepping up as a leader, accepting speaking and training engagements even if I was shaking like a leaf as I delivered my training. I learned to speak my truth and own my story. I learned to be authentic, and be a woman of integrity. I learned to create success stories for others instead of focussing on mine. I learned that you need to have mentors and also mentor others. Today, those lessons have served me well. As I went about doing my thing, little did I know that people were watching, legends in the industry were keeping an eye on that girl in the UK. November 2018, Marina made me attend Frazer Brookes' Success Summit. During the break, I went over to say hello to Frazer. The conversation went something like this:
Hey Frazer, my name is Shayo. He said, "Heyyyyyy Shayo, good to see you here". I was like - you don't know me. He said, "Ohhhhh, yes I do". I asked how? When? He said, "I've been following you on Facebook". I couldn't believe what I'd just heard. Really?
Fast forward to a year later, I was given the honour to be one of the speakers at Success Summit 3. WOW!!!! Frazer. Thank you for uplifting and expanding me. Same November 2018, I met my company's CEO & FOUNDER, Byron P Belka for the first time. Same November 2018, I met Rob Sperry also for the first time. Both Byron & Rob were featured speakers at that same Frazer's event that I attended. Fast forward to October 2019, I was asked by Byron to speak at our company's event in Las Vegas. Byron, thank you for BREAKING ME OPEN, thank you for giving me that platform, thank you for creating this vehicle that has totally and completely changed my life and the lives of thousands of others. Fast forward to 2020, I received a voice note from Rob Sperry. It went something like this:
"I'm about to launch my next project. Would you be interested in..."
I replied YESSSSSSS (this one is still in the oven). And then about 2 weeks ago, I got another voice note from Rob. It went something like this - I am putting together a 1-day workshop to train on "How to sponsor 10 people in 1 week". There will be 9 speakers + me, would you like to be one of the speakers? Again I screamed YES...YES...YES..And a few days ago, I had the opportunity to train alongside millionaires and multi-millionaires in our profession. WOW!!! Rob, thank you for CHALLENGING me.
Why have I shared this today? 5 years ago, I had absolutely no clue what my life would look like today. 5 years ago, I had not met any of the people I mentioned above. Ladies & gentlemen, do not put off something because of the time it will take to achieve it. That time will still pass anyway. Your best days are still ahead of you. Your dream can still come true. In order for it not to just remain a dream, you MUST make a DECISION to become INTENTIONAL with your associations.
If they are not fuelling you, pushing you forward, challenging you, uplifting and expanding you, they have no business being in your circle. It really does not take 10 years to change your life, it takes a DECISION. What happens to most people though is, it takes them 10 years to get to that moment where they MUST then make that DECISION. Don't let that be you. If you've been dilly-dallying about something you know you MUST do. If you've been playing small, If you've been procrastinating, PLEASE STOP! Make that DECISION TODAY! Let today mark the beginning of your journey to living your dreams. The truth is, DREAMS DO COME TRUE! I am a witness!
