Where's your happy place? Mine is by the sea. There's something truly magical about the sound of the waves, and the sea breeze.
“Happiness is not something ready-made. It comes from your own actions.”
Dalai Lama
I decided to visit my happy place yesterday with my little girl and was fortunate to also watch the sunset. What a beauty!
There's a lot going on in our world right now, chaos, fear, uncertainty, hate. yet there's peace, calmness, love, hope, friendship, kindness as well. There's still so much beauty all around.
I made a new friend yesterday, Tony. He told me about himself, why he loves the sea, how blessed he feels to live only a few minutes away from the sea, how he has retired at 54, told me about his dogs and his partner.
Walking with him yesterday, 2 people, from 2 different races, one looked nothing like the other, total strangers a few minutes before, yet brought together at that moment by a common love-the sea. We spoke for about 15 minutes on that walk; just 2 humans, and the colour of our skin made no difference. We were just 2 humans who love the same thing - the sea.
Someday, somehow, we will get it right. I hope, I pray, I believe. Meanwhile you can open yourself up to nature and to all that is around you. Find happiness in what life offers you. There are amazing people out there in the world and connecting with them could make a huge difference in your life.
